Here are some words by Scoutmaster John Dewitt on the scouting journey and on Troop 109.
“I feel honored to have the position of Scoutmaster with Troop 109, a Troop that celebrates its 100th anniversary of “consecutive charter” in 2018. The success of Troop 109 is due to the dedication of all of the adult volunteers, past and present, and the Scouts that have been a part of this organization. Troop 109 has been very fortunate over the years to have numerous assistants willing to give their time and talents to make our troop what it is today. Our goal, as leaders, is to help these boys mature into young men that can be the leaders of tomorrow — with the Scout Oath and Law as their guide!
“Bill Bradley, former United States Senator said it best, ‘The Boy Scouts of America stands for a set of principles. These principles have a lot of staying power. The values you learn as a Scout are like a compass. They can help you find your way through difficult and sometimes uncharted terrain. The principles of Scouting give you a sense of what’s important’.”
