Winter Sports Merit Badge Opportunity

Hello All,

It has come to my attention very recently that there is an opportunity for scouts to earn a winter merit badge for SNOW SPORTS.  Please see all information on the registration packet through ILLOWABSA.ORG under events, activities, then snow sports merit badge.
The class is being held at Snow Star Ski Resort in Andalusia.  Gary Pearsall is the instructor/counselor.  The class is 6 weeks long and started today, Sunday January 14th. (Registration was last week.)  The class will go until February 18th where the scouts will have “free” ski to practice all they’ve learned throughout the merit badge class.  Because the class started already, Mr. Pearsall has been approved to do another 1st session class tomorrow, Monday the 15th.   If any scout is interested in taking this class contact me, Wendie Oestmann (918)-306-1933.  I will be taking Warren to Snow Star and am willing to transport any scout who wants to attend.
Again the class is 6 weeks.  Topics covered in the sessions:
Cold weather clothing
First Aid
Snowboarding and skiing
Technology and History
Teaching Methods and Why
Responsibility Code
Scouts will need their own coats, ski pants, hats, and gloves.  The BSA requires a helmet which can be rented along with the ski’s.  The lift ticket for all session is included in the fee.  If scout already has lift ticket and gear, prices are adjusted.
Please see all pricing in the registration packet.
Scouts who need all ski equipment is $200. $225 for snowboards.  This included lift ticket, helmet, lessons, and merit badge.  Once the merit badge class is finished the scout will have a continuing lift ticket for the rest of the 2018 ski season.
This is a great way for the scout to practice what they’ve learned in the class.
***If a scout has their own equipment this price is reduced.
The class Monday will begin at 1:00.  If a scout needs a ride contact me.  Payment is due upon beginning the class.
Not only is this a great opportunity, but it’s a very reasonable price for scouts to earn the snow sports merit badge.
Much Thanks,
Wendie Oestman
