On November 15th, Sacred Heart is having a dinner to kick off a capital campaign. The Social committee has asked if we would be willing to have four Scouts (in full Class A uniform) to help greet people as they come to the doors and other tasks. We already have one volunteer, please let Mrs. Houtekier know if you can attend this. The Social committee has done a lot for us, as well as the Church, so we need to return the favor.
November 11 is the Veteran’s Day mass at 9 am at Sacred Heart. We are honoring our Veterans by participating in a Flag ceremony. We would like to see as many of our Scouts in full Class A uniform as possible for this event. Following mass, is Coffee Cafe in the Veteran’s honor in Culemans Hall which we are helping serve. Please let Mrs. Houtekier know if you will be there to help serve.
Good evening, troop 109 as of November 1st,
I, Nick Forgie, am now the new webmaster for the troop, let me know of anything that needs to be posted or changed.
Here is my contact information
Troop 109 is sad to report the death of Ian Snider’s father, Richard. Mr. Snider died on Tuesday, October 2nd. His visitation will be tomorrow from 4-7 PM at Rafferty’s Funeral Home in Moline. His funeral Mass will be on Saturday morning at 9:30 at Sacred Heart Church, Moline and he will be buried at St. Mary’s cemetery, East Moline. Please keep Ian and his family in your prayers as they go through this extremely difficult time. If you wish, feel free to support Ian and his family by stopping by the visitation or attending the funeral Mass (scout attire is optional). Mr. Snider’s obituary is below.
I wanted to remind everyone about September fest happening on Sunday. We are doing set up of history artifacts on Saturday evening at Culemans at 4pm. We will be meeting on Sunday at 9am to get everything else set up. The event is from noon to 3 on Sunday. The scouts will be helping throughout the event with different stations and preforming skits. Please let Mrs. Houtekier know if you can help on Saturday evening. She has a great deal to get put out for Sunday and many hands make light work! Thank you to everyone!
Just a reminder that there is no meeting tomorrow, July 9th.
Family night and OA call out is this Wednesday evening. This is also our troop meeting for the week.
We will begin gathering at 5:30 with a group potluck beginning at 6. We will be joining with Troop 131 and Troop 144. This will be a fairly large gathering, but we will have a lot of fun visiting with the other troops. (traditionally, we have let the camping scouts eat first, followed by the camping leaders, since this will be their only opportunioty to not have to eat camp food). Please bring a dish to share, along with your dinner ware and beverages (non-alcoholic) Troop 109 will be supplying some chicken for dinner. Weather permitting we will be eating at the campsite (Warclub). If the weather forecast is unfavorable we will try and reserve a KIVA. You may also want to bring lawn chairs! We will have a short troop meeting at approximately 6:30 that should last less than a half an hour.
There should be some free time between dinner and Callout so that your scout can show you around camp.
Call out will begin sometime later that evening. Usually around 8:00. I encourage all of troop 109 to attend. We do have youth eligible to be called out. Following the ceremony, all visitors will leave camp which should be before 10pm.
See you there!
